Meeting Times:
6th Grade Band meets from 10:25 - 11:05 am on White days
7th Grade Band meets from 2 - 2:45 on Blue days
8th Grade Band meets from 2 - 2:45 on White days
Description:
Grade 6
The 6th Grade Band is open to all students who play a wind ensemble band instrument (woodwinds, brass, percussion). Please contact Mr. Snow if you play a different instrument (string family, piano, guitar, etc.) as it is possible to make accommodations. Band rehearsals are every other day for 40 minutes. Band members also participate in Sectionals once per week for 25 minutes. Band members are expected to practice at home to develop their playing skills and technique. Private lessons outside of school are also encouraged.
The repertoire for the 6th Grade Band represents a wide variety of musical periods and styles. Concerts are held in December and May of each year at 6:30 pm in the YPAC and are open to the public.

It is encouraged, although not required, for Band members to participate in the Memorial Day Parade at the end of May.
6th Graders who wish to join the Band and have no previous experience should participate in the Beginner Band Program.

It is encouraged, although not required, for Band members to participate in the Memorial Day Parade at the end of May. Students are encouraged to audition for and participate in the District II Honors Music Festivals; auditions for this festival are in October and the festival itself is held in February.
7th& 8th Graders who wish to join the Band and have no previous experience should participate in the Beginner Band Program.
Who May Participate:
6th, 7th, and 8th-grade students with previous Band experience may participate; all others are encouraged to initially participate in the Beginner Band Program and then mainstream into Band by early Winter.
